Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator Sportito has launched its services for the Brazilian market, just four months after launching in India.

Brazil becomes the third country – after the UK and India – to offer the Sportito DFS platform, and the firm’s first LatAm market launch.

Launching in Brazil, the Sportito platform will cover international and domestic soccer contests, as well as basketball, tennis, golf and cricket. The company also revealed plans to introduce volleyball and hockey-based contests by the end of the year.

Sportito does not apply any restrictions for players choosing their fantasy team, which allows them to make choices without having to worry about a budget. The teams can then be tracked in real-time thanks to Sportito’s partnership with Sportradar.

“Within the last few years, Brazil’s burgeoning fantasy sports market has dramatically evolved, feeding the appetite of the many passionate sports fans who love getting closer to the teams, athletes and the sports they love,” said Sportito CEO Riccardo Mittiga.

“Brazil is an important market for Sportito as it combines most passionate football fans in the world with sophisticated, tech-savvy young (between 18 and 35) consumers – exactly the kind of people who love competing on Sportito.”

A recent study by Technavio found that the DFS market in Brazil could reach $1.5 billion by 2020, with daily fantasy football contributing roughly 60% of this market.

“Soccer is widely played and followed in Brazil. Soccer, as a favorite national pastime, has a wide audience irrespective of gender, age, or economic status,” added Mittiga.

“The popularity of the game and the rising internet penetration in the country have propelled the growth of fantasy soccer and therefore our decision to offer Sportito in Brazil in a similar path as we did in India.”
