Perth-based esports brand Pentanet.GG has unveiled plans to turn the local area into an international esports hub.

Pentanet.GG is backed by Western Australia internet service provider Pentanet, which is looking to build a professional league with dedicated servers in Perth.

Stephen Cornish, Managing Director of Pentanet discussed the plans in a release: “Given Perth is the gateway exactly between Asia and the Eastern States, we recognise the opportunity as gamers to expand our network to these regions, turning Perth into the new centre of an Australasian esports network, whilst also operating the league that runs through it.

“We look forward to cultivating and elevating the next best gaming talent from here in WA, providing the right mentorship and guidance in how to conduct themselves as professional athletes.”

Building servers in Perth will help those in Western Australia to compete online, considering servers have previously been available in the eastern side of the country or in Asia. The servers will be situated to connect gamers from across Asia through to the Eastern states.

Pete Curulli, General Manager at Pentanet.GG added: “There’s so much good that is being done, and Pentanet’s dedication to bring its network and professional processes to the passion that players and viewers have for esports gives the market an incredible opportunity to protect and nurture the scene.”

Pentanet become a principal partner of the WNBL’s Perth Lynx in September, followed shortly by sponsoring NBL’s Perth Wildcats in October. Pentanet.GG’s logo appears on both team’s jerseys, giving it coast-to-coast coverage across the National Basketball League.
