The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will assess its licensee data and information requirements, after confirming the launch of its new industry stakeholder consultation.

The new consultation aims to evaluate operator data requirements and reporting procedures adhering to conditions established by the Commission’s Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP).

In addition, the consultation will require stakeholders to submit the details of regulatory returns, official statistics and further licensee data requirements.

In its consultation note, the UKGC detailed that its data requirements need to change over time to better reflect the regulatory development of the sector, in addition to informing government policy and research units supporting the UKGC’s in its regulatory approach.

The UKGC requires stakeholder input with regards to:

  •     Improving data quality and efficiency of regulations
  •     Streamlining existing licensee requirements, reducing regulatory burdens
  •   Ensuring that new data requirements can fulfil the UKGC’s current and future needs
  •     Strengthening the UKGC’s focus on consumer protection.

“The consultation sets out the Gambling Commission’s proposals to change the regulatory data that we require licensees to provide to us and offers an opportunity for stakeholders to comment on the proposed changes,” read the UKGC statement.

The UKGC will close its consultation on 20 May 2020. Full consultation terms can be found at
